The best season to visit the park is from October through early April when the weather is dry. During this time the days are warm and nights are cool and pleasant. From April to June the temperature rise up to 45° C. The monsoon arrive in June and stays till September.
Royal Chitwan National Park
Royal Chitwan National Park, the country's first national park, registered in 1973 has also been listed in World Heritage Site in 1984 for its international significance in ecosystems containing hills, ox-bow lakes and flood plains of the Rapti, Reu and Narayani rivers and is the most popular safari destination in Nepal. The park is situated in south central Nepal covering 932 sq. km in the subtropical lowlands of the inner Terai and can be reached in about five hours drive from Kathmandu or you can also fly to Bharatpur in 20 minutes and an hours drive will take you inside the jungle.
ROYAL BARDIA NATIONAL PARK
Situated in the lowland of Nepal's Western Terai is the largest park in Terai covering and area of 968 sq. km. It is the most undisturbed wilderness area in Terai. Royal Bardiya National National Park can be reached in three hours in jeep from Nepalgunj, which is 1 hour 10 minutes by air or 531 km by road from Kathmandu. Sagarmatha National Park (SNP), Shey Phoksundo National Park (SPNP), Rara National Park, Langtang National Park, Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area.
ANNAPURNA CONSERVATION AREA
Covering the area of 7629 sq km, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) encompasses forested middle mountain, high Himalaya and trans-Himalayan desert plateau ecosystem. The population of ACAP is about 120,000 from over 10 ethnic and cast groups. The area is visited by 60,000 and another 60,000 trekking staff yearly. The Himalayan range is dominated by Annapurna I (8091m), the 10th highest mountain in the world.
You can access ACAP from Pokhara which is 200 km on road and 30 min flight from Kathmandu. The best time to be there is during spring and autumn in the southern region and summer in the northern region. During spring you can see the colorful bloom of rhododendron and orchid. You can find more than 1200 different kinds of plant with 38 orchids and 9 rhododendrons. ACAP is home to 101 mammals, 478 birds, 39 reptiles, 22 amphibians.
ACAP is visited mainly for trekking and mountaineering. The area is one of the most popular trekking destinations.
